It had been employed by a local abattoir which was closing down, to graze sheep and cattle.[citation required] This land appealed to Love as being the area was perfectly flat and was covered by using a pasture of buffalo grass. The grass were grazed so evenly via the sheep and cattle that it expected very little to make it serviceable for aircraft.
